WHY DO I WEAR BELTS?

At the Kane Academy coloured belts are worn by students and instructors to distinguish between the differing levels and skills of our members.

HOW DO I GET MY BELTS?

Students after 3 months grade for their White Belt. Students must have attained 4 tabs on their white belt to be deemed ready to grade for their next belt. The following grading procedure should be followed.

Little Warriors Programme

NB: If a senior student has shown improvement but is not at the standard to progress to black belt they will grade for Brown 3 Half Brown Half Black Belt. All Junior’s will grade for this belt before Black.

BLACK BELT AND ABOVE - ALL STYLES

1. All students must follow minimum time and classes set out by the governing body.

2. Instructors will inform students when their attendance and skill levels have reached an adequate level to be permitted to grade. (We understand that students are eager to grade for belts. However, a students must understand that the instructor is qualified to make the decision as to wether or not a student is ready to grade.)

*Attendance for classes must be evenly spread accross the three/four month period. It is NOT acceptable for students to train hit and miss and then attempt to bulk up on classes just before a belt assessment.

MAJOR POINTS TO ALL CANDIDATES.

You may be asked questions regarding rules and history regarding the style you are grading in.

You may also be asked to demonstrate things that are expected in the next belt level up from yours. This is purely to see if a student wil have a go, a test of character.

You will certainly have to go through the previous belt grades syllabus as well as the one your are grading for now.
